Flamingo Island Designs is Barbara Soumar, a self-confessed fabric-holic and third generation quilter. Barbara has been quilting for more than 10 years, but was just recently bitten by the landscape quilting bug. The result is this web-site devoted to landscape quilting.

Barbara is also a sculptor, woodcarver and writer. She has been a resident of Florida for more than thirty years, and has a great love for nature and the outdoors. This love is expressed in her quilts and sculptures which have been seen in numerous shows around Florida. (You can see some of her work in our gallery.) Barbara has two grown children and currently lives in Vero Beach, Florida with her husband, three cats, two rabbits and many birds. Sorry, no flamingos.
